The building naturally brings people together. Residents, makers and passers-by cross paths in the public plinth and along the inviting waterside. Ceci n’est pas une maison — this is not just a residential building, but an experience that slowly unfolds.
Ceci lies along the canal like a pearl that shines differently each time. The façade responds to light, water and season: curved overhangs and a pearlescent skin give the building a constantly changing character. In the city, Ceci shows different faces: more formal along the main street, more open towards the water, and more inward-looking around the green courtyard. At ground level the building opens up to the city, with a transparent double-height plinth where inside and outside flow into one another. Sustainable choices are a visible part of the architecture, with solar energy integrated into the façade bands and a hybrid timber structure in which technology and aesthetics come together.
Inside, that story continues. The floor plans are designed as a flowing sequence, with rounded walls, sightlines and visual connections that naturally guide you through the space. The interior plays with magical realism: the everyday becomes subtly extraordinary through unexpected combinations of form, material and light. Inside and outside together form a continuous story that does not reveal itself all at once, but unfolds layer by layer.
